There are two large balconies accessed from the second floor. Both have outside taps and sinks and power points.. Both also have wall lights (two on the front and one on the rear).
This area is accessed via the french doors of the master bedroom and the double bedroom. It is paved in light beige tiles and has a brick built balustrade wall topped in light brown tiles. Above the french doors a small porch roof extends a meter and a half over the balcony (home to our resident bats). The views extend eastwards towards Colle Mitra and northwards to the Morrone range in the Maiella mountains. They also take in the Valle del Gizio to the southeast and the Gran Sasso mountains and Corno Grande to the northwest.
This area is accessed via the french doors on the landing but can also be reached via the spiral staircase at the corner of the apartment. It is the roof of the apartment and is paved in light beige tiles with black painted metal railings. Against the wall at one side of the balcony is the brick built boiler house which also serves as a small store room. The boiler house is only accessed from the balcony.
The balcony also has a bamboo covered wooden gazebo that covers approximately one quarter of its area. This provides welcome shade on a sunny day. The views extend up and down the Valle del Gizio and also into the forested hills and mountains behind the house. The mature fir and walnut trees behind the house afford some additional shade.
