The vineyard is to the side of the house and runs in seven rows from the car park to the far side of the land. The vines are mostly red Montepulciano d’Abruzzo but there are a small number of white Trebbiano amongst them. There are also two rows of eating grapes to the side of the vineyard and some vines in the orchard. The vineyard is long established and the current vines are probably about 35 years old.
We have kept the vineyard in full production for the past ten years and operate it on organic principles. The quantity of wine varies each year depending on seasonal conditions. These are the amounts we have bottled in recent seasons:
- 2008 – 270 litres
- 2009 – 230 litres
- 2010 – 240 litres
- 2011 – crop lost to mildew during an unseasonaly wet July
- 2012 – 160 litres
- 2013 – 300 litres
- 2014 – 250 litres
- 2015 – 280 litres
2016 was a tricky year due to a late frost – the vines recovered well though and we picked 300kg of grapes and have 140 litres fermenting in our barrels.
We will be happy to pass on sufficient viticultural knowledge to keep the new owners in production and are happy also to offer some wine making equipment for sale.
